Interview with Rellyo Bambini about his album "Cloned and Upgraded, Insert Soul Here"

Antes de la entrevista, dejamos que Rellyo Bambini hable un poco más allá del disco. La charla no va tanto por explicar canciones ni conceptos cerrados, sino por entender desde dónde sale todo eso que aparece en "Cloned and Upgraded, Insert Soul Here". Universos, ideas, obsesiones, el impulso de seguir creando y esa necesidad de que la música no se quede quieta. Acá, Rellyo baja un cambio y cuenta cómo piensa, cómo escribe y qué lo mueve cuando arma este tipo de mundos.

1- ¿Cómo empezó realmente este álbum? ¿Hubo una canción, un sonido o una imagen concreta que apareciera primero?

How did this album actually start? Was there a specific song, sound, or image that came first?

ESP: Estoy creando universos. Estén atentos a https://www.thedriftinghobo.com/rellyo-bambini para el Patreon y las novedades. Quiero involucrar a fans y colaboradores en ideas y creaciones de mundos de ciencia ficción y futuristas que todavía no se vieron. La realidad es la fuerza que impulsa gran parte de mi música, y conectar con la realidad mental siempre es la base desde donde opero.

ENG: I'm creating universes, keep an eye out at https://www.thedriftinghobo.com/rellyo-bambini for the Pateron and updates, I'm looking to involve fans and collaborators with the ideas and creations of Sci-fi and Futuristic unseen worlds. Reality is the driving force between a lot of my music and connecting the mental reality is always the base of operation.

2- El título ya dice bastante. ¿En qué momento te diste cuenta de que ese concepto resumía todo lo que estabas trabajando?

The title already says a lot. When did you realise that this concept summed up everything you were working on?

ESP: Sí, totalmente. Dice muchísimo. Pero como una cebolla, tiene muchas capas. En ambos sentidos. Experimentos mentales y todas las nuevas fronteras en las que nos encontramos en esta vida, pero al final del día, es siempre el mismo baile.

ENG: Yeah. It definitely does. Speaks volumes. But like an onion, there's many layers. To both. thought experiments and all the new frontiers that we find ourselves in this life but at the end of the day, It's all the same dance.

3- Cuando estás creando, ¿solés arrancar desde una idea clara o desde una sensación que después vas construyendo?

When you’re creating, do you usually start from a clear idea, or from a feeling that you then build around?

ESP: Cuando me siento a crear, empiezo pensando en algo dentro mío que pueda sacar y compartir. Para conectar con otras personas, con sabiduría, si es que la tengo. Siento que todos corremos el riesgo de estar dormidos mientras estamos despiertos. Por eso para mí es importante encontrar algo que resuene en otros, como otros encontraron algo en mí.

ENG: When I sit. I start to think of something inside me that I can pull out and share. To relate with other people, wisdom, if I have it. I feel like we're all in danger of being asleep, while awake. So it's important for me to find something that resonates with others, as others have found with me.

4- ¿Qué partes de vos sentís que quedaron más expuestas en este proyecto en comparación con trabajos anteriores?

What parts of yourself do you feel are more exposed in this project compared to your previous work?

ESP: Siempre estoy buscando algo más que ame y disfrute en esta vida, y algo que pueda vivir mucho más allá de este cuerpo físico.

ENG: I'm always searching for something more that I love and enjoy in this life and something that can live on long beyond this physical shell.

5- El disco tiene momentos más livianos y otros más personales. ¿Eso aparece de forma natural cuando escribís o lo vas decidiendo en el camino?

The album has lighter moments and more personal ones. Does that happen naturally when you write, or do you make those choices along the way?

ESP: Sí, aparece de forma natural. Amo muchos tipos distintos de música, por eso creo que se ven esos distintos lados y sonidos. Me gusta expresarme de esas maneras. Para mí es algo natural. Y no me gusta que me encasillen porque, bueno, todos podríamos terminar en una caja algún día.

ENG: Yes, naturally. I love so many different types of music, that's why. I think you see these different sides and sounds. Across the board because I truly enjoy expression in those manners. I feel like they are natural. And I don't like to be put in a box because, well, we all might be one day.

6- Cuando alguien escucha el disco, ¿te importa más que entienda el concepto general o que conecte con lo que siente?

When someone listens to the album, do you care more about them getting the overall concept, or simply connecting with what they feel?

ESP: Quiero ambas cosas. ¡Lo quiero todo! Porque crecí escuchando discos conceptuales. Ya sean abstractos como A Passion Play de Jethro Tull o Sgt. Pepper’s. Es importante que cada canción funcione por sí sola, pero si hay una conexión más grande, como una especie de novela corta dentro de una historia mayor, para mí eso también es muy significativo.

ENG: I want both. I want it all! Ha, Mainly because I grew up with concept albums. And whether it's abstract ones like Jethro Tull, Passion Play or just Sergeant Pepper's. It's important that each song can stand on its own. But if there's a bigger connection like a novelette inside a bigger story... To me, that's also very meaningful.

7- Después de terminar el álbum, ¿sentiste alivio, cansancio o ganas de seguir creando?

After finishing the album, did you feel relief, exhaustion, or a need to keep creating?

ESP: Siento ambas cosas tirando de mí al mismo tiempo, el yin y el yang. Cansancio por la cantidad de trabajo, pero también energía para seguir creando y compartiendo más. Para hacer los videoclips que acompañen las canciones y dar forma a los mundos que las rodean. Esto no se hizo para quedar guardado en un cajón, se hizo para que la gente lo experimente.

ENG: I ultimately feel both sides pulling at me again, the Ying and the Yang. Exhausted for the sheer amount. But also invigorated to create and share more, to make the music videos that match with them and the worlds around them take shape. To help share with people that will enjoy it at the end of the day. Let's be clear, these were not made to sit in a drawer. It was made for people to draw themselves and experience it.

8- Mirando el álbum terminado hoy, ¿sentís que representa quién sos ahora o a alguien que ya quedó atrás?

Looking at the finished album now, do you feel it represents who you are today, or someone you’ve already moved on from?

ESP: La vida está en cambio constante. Siento que, de alguna manera, soy eterno, al menos mi mente y mi conciencia. Tengo tendencia a ponerme demasiado filosófico, perdón. Pero la forma en que hago estas afirmaciones, y con eso me refiero a mi arte, está pensada para ser eterna. Aunque cambie, siempre va a ser parte de mi identidad. Son los mensajes que dejo para los seres del infinito.

ENG: Life is Forever Flux. I feel in a way, I'm eternal, my mind consciousness that is. I have a tendency to get overly philosophical, I'm sorry. But the way I make these statements (and by that I mean my art) they are meant to be eternal. Even if I've changed. We're always changing. But It'll always be part of my identity. These are the messages I leave for the beings of infinity.
